Also the party will meet the characters from the Azure Bonds novel (Alias, Dragonbait, Olive, Akabar, and Nameless). In addition to the main task, there are a lot of side–dungeons for the party to visit and gain experience points and magical items, once two members of the new alliance have been defeated. ![]() Tyranthracus is faced in the big showdown of the game, which frees the characters from the last bond. Once the Fire Knifes are defeated, the party can travel through the realms and take on Dracandros, Moander or the Zentrim in any order they like. Other members of the new alliance include (again) priests of Moander, the wizard Dracandros, the Zentrim and, of course, the possessing spirit Tyranthraxus, the big bad boss from Pool of Radiance. Drawn into a war between the local thieves’ guild and the Fire Knifes of Tilverton, the party can free itself of the first bond and collect some information on who else is responsible for their maltreatment. The characters have to search the Dalelands of the Forgotten Realms for the members of this new alliance and convince them, usually through violence, to remove the controlling bonds. As in the book, each member of the party is branded with five tattoos through which its creator exerts control over them. All the magical items they found in Pool of Radiance are gone, but their muggers left them in an inn, played for their room and also left each of them 300 platinum pieces in cash (enough to by new equipment). ![]() The game starts with the characters awakening in the city of Tilverton. The party starts in Tilverton in the SW corner. Together with the saurial paladin Dragonbait, the halfling bard Olive Ruskettle, and the mage Akabar Bel Akash, Alias managed to defeat her creators who wanted to use her in their own evil schemes. Alias was actually created by those mentioned above with additional help from a person called the Nameless Bard, but his symbol was removed, as he helped her escape her creators. These symbols were created by an alliance consisting of an assassins’ guild called the Fire Knifes, some priests of the dormant god Moander, the sorceress Cassana, the lich Zrie Prakis, and the demon or hordling Phalse. Sadly, the quite interesting story is copied almost on a 1:1 basis out of the novel Azure Bonds by Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb, where the swordswoman Alias awakes in an inn to find herself branded with five blue, tattoo–like symbols. Curse of the Azure Bonds - Commodore 64 Game Review, C64 Games Reviews Curse of the Azure BondsĬurse of the Azure Bonds is the sequel to Pool of Radiance. ![]()
